Quick answer
- Grouping and sorting decide the structure. Display options decide which data appears. Paper and layout decide the shape.
- Several settings lock or override each other, which is usually why a toggle is greyed out.
- Design presets change font and colours only, never your content or structure.
Basic information
- List name is internal. Header title is what guests see, and it is optional.
- Customer language sets the language of the card's content, independently of the language you work in.
- Intro text is an editorial paragraph. You can write it yourself or have AI draft one from your collection, then edit it. It appears on the PDF and it is also what fills the banner on the digital wine card, see The digital wine card.
- Font style and separator character. The separator is what sits between winery, wine name, region, vintage and grapes, so a change here is felt on every line.
- Logo, 200x200 pixels or larger, jpg or png.
Design presets
Presets are a starting point, not a lock-in: Classic Serif, Modern Minimal, Vinius Navy, Burgundy and Bistro.
Applying one changes font and colours only. Your content settings, grouping and categories are untouched. Preview it, then save to keep it.
Grouping and sorting
- Group wines by sets the primary headers: none, style, country or region.
- Then group wines by adds a second level, for example Style then Region.
- Sort wines by orders wines within each group: name, winery, price, vintage, country or region.
Changing the grouping changes your category structure, so Vinius regenerates the categories and asks you to confirm. See Managing wine cards.
Display options
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Show prices | Turn off for a catalogue or tasting document where pricing is handled separately |
| Use dynamic prices | All wines use their dynamic selling price. An individual wine can override this. A wine with no selling price falls back to the dynamic price regardless |
| Show grape percentages | Full composition (Cabernet Sauvignon 70%, Merlot 30%) instead of the primary grape only |
| Show winery name | Off gives wine names only, which suits a house list |
| Show regions | Region, subregion and appellation |
| Show vintages | Which vintages appear per wine is controlled in the Items tab, not here |
| Show food pairings | Where pairings exist on the wine |
| Show per glass options | Glass prices throughout the list for wines offered by the glass |
Show regions is cleverer than a toggle. It omits regions that already appear in a category header, so grouping by Region and showing regions does not print Burgundy twice on every line.
Glass prices have two competing homes. You can show glass prices throughout the list, or you can run a dedicated Available by the Glass category. Doing both is redundant, so Vinius resolves it: with the category active, the throughout-the-list toggle is disabled and glass prices appear in the category section instead. Where both are in play, default glass volumes stay in the category and non-default volumes appear as columns in the list. Pick one approach.
Inventory list mode
Show inventory list turns the card into a stock document: quantities per location, storage units and bin codes. Use it for stock reports, audits and physical counts.
It rewrites other settings on purpose. Turning it on disables prices, regions, grapes, food pairings and glass options for a cleaner layout, and enables Include Out of Stock so the count is complete. Turn it off again and set what you want back.
Include Out of Stock on its own decides whether zero-inventory wines appear. For a guest-facing card, leaving it off is usually the better experience. It is forced on while inventory list mode is active.
Paper and layout
- Paper format: A3, A4, A5, Tabloid, Letter or Legal, in portrait or landscape.
- Folded booklet with a binding edge of long or short. Vinius gives you the matching print instructions: print at actual size (100%, no fit-to-page), double-sided, flip on the chosen edge, then fold. Printing at "fit to page" is the usual reason a booklet does not line up.
- Layout density: Standard is the balanced default, Compact puts one wine per line and suits lists of 100+ wines, Loose uses a larger font and more space for a short, elegant card.
- Display page numbering adds "Page X of Y" to the footer. Worth it beyond two or three pages.
- Repeat titles on continuation pages repeats the group titles, marked continued, at the top of every page a long section spills onto. Leave this on unless you have a reason.
- Include an index page lists categories and their page numbers.
- Group wine titles puts primary and secondary titles on one row, and only applies when secondary grouping is active.
- Display region info on new line puts region detail below the wine name. Better for complex hierarchies like Burgundy.
- Display region info in reverse flips Country to Appellation into Appellation to Country, so Gevrey-Chambertin, Côte d'Or, Burgundy, France instead of the other way round. Use it when the appellation is the selling point.
- Display Powered By logo shows "Powered by Vinius" in the footer.
Why a layout toggle is greyed out
This is the most common support question on this panel, and there are three causes:
- Compact density is unavailable when a wine has multiple glass volumes. Those need the standard layout to fit.
- Region on a new line is controlled by density. Compact forces it off, loose forces it on. It is also automatically enabled and locked when multiple glass volumes are detected, because the horizontal space is needed.
- Powered By cannot be switched off unless your plan allows it. A padlock icon marks this. Removing the branding is an Enterprise capability, see Tier entitlements and plan limits.
Typography and emphasis
Display in UPPER CASE applies to any combination of the primary grouping title, the secondary grouping title, the winery name and the wine name. Used sparingly it reads as classic. Used everywhere it reads as shouting.
Display in accent colour applies to any combination of the header title, primary grouping title, secondary grouping title, divider line, by-the-glass prices and volume size. Set the accent colour itself in the Colors section.
Category header style
Choose how a category header separates from the wines beneath it: a line, a custom graphic you upload, or none.
With a custom graphic you also choose its position, above or below the title. That control stays disabled until Custom Graphic is selected.
Category title alignment is left or centred, and applies to every category header.
Colours
- Background colour, digital output only
- Header background, the card's header area
- Text colour
- Accent colour, used for highlights: section labels, icons, quote marks and selected card elements
- Magazine panel colour, used by the magazine-style detail screen for its dark bands and panels such as pairings and price blocks
Header background and magazine panel colour are deliberately separate, so the printed header and the tablet panels can differ.
Vinius warns you about unreadable combinations rather than letting you discover them in print: low text contrast against the page background, low header title contrast against the header background, and an accent colour so light it will barely show on paper. These are warnings, not blocks, so a deliberate choice is still yours to make.
