Switching organisation and site on mobile

Move between workspaces and physical locations from your phone, and understand why the active site decides which stock, prices and history you are looking at.

    Quick answer

    • The organization switcher changes workspace. The active venue changes physical location.
    • Stock, pricing context and history follow the active venue, so check it before you count anything.
    • You can only switch to organizations you are a member of, and venues you have site access to.

Why this matters before you touch stock

The single most common cause of a confusing number on mobile is standing in one cellar with another site selected. Inventory, pricing context and movement history are all scoped to the active venue.

Make checking the active venue the first thing you do when you open the app in a new location. It takes two seconds and saves an incorrect count.

    Switching organization

Open the organization screen. Under Switch organization you see every organization your account belongs to, with your primary organization marked.

Switching changes the whole workspace: members, roles, permissions and business context all change with it. If your account belongs to a single organization, the app says so rather than showing an empty switcher.

    Switching the active venue

Under Active venue you choose the site you are working in, within the current organization.

If the organization has only one venue, the app tells you that too. If a venue you expect is missing, the cause is site access rather than the app. Site access is granted per member, per site, on the web. See Managing users and access.

Organization or site: which do you need?

The rule is the same on mobile as on the web:

    • New team, access boundary or business context means a new organization.
    • Another physical location inside the same business means a new site.

The app includes a short Org vs Site explainer for exactly this decision. For the full version, including the consequences of choosing wrong, see Organization vs Site.

Creating an organization from the app

You can create a new organization directly from the switcher, which is useful for a private cellar kept separate from your work account.

    You provide:

    • Organization name
    • Your role, for example business owner, collector, wine club admin, winery or distributor
    • Account context: Private Collector creates a personal owner workspace for private cellar management, Business or Team creates an owner workspace for a company, venue or wine club
    • Industry, optional

You become the owner of what you create, and the app switches to it immediately.

Think before creating one. A second organization means separate members, separate roles and separate data. If you only need another location, add a site instead.

    Storage basics

The switcher also links to Manage Storage, so you can configure sites, rooms and storage units for the site access you have without moving to the web. See Managing storage.
