Quick answer
- Notifications are grouped into categories, and you pick a channel per category.
- Channels are Push, Email, Push & email or Off.
- A small set of critical messages is always sent by email, whatever you choose.
Where to change them
- Web app: Account Settings, notification preferences.
- Mobile app: Settings, notification settings.
Both write to the same preferences, so a change on one surface applies to the other.
The categories
| Category | Covers | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Direct messages | Someone sends you a personal message | Push |
| Orders & payments | Order confirmations, shipping updates, payment notices | Push & email |
| Cellar & stock alerts | Low stock and other inventory alerts | Push |
| Price alerts | Price drops and target-price alerts on wines you follow | Push |
| Social activity | Endorsements, comments, club activity | Push |
| Announcements & news | Product announcements, news and offers | |
| Email digest | A summary of unread notifications by email | Weekly |
Email digest is a frequency rather than a channel: daily, weekly or off. Digest delivery is still being rolled out, so treat the setting as recording your preference rather than as a guarantee of a mail landing this week.
What always gets through
Two groups of messages ignore your preferences by design.
Critical transactional email. A failed payment and a shipped order are always emailed, even if Orders & payments is set to push only, or off. Your preference governs the rest of that category.
Account and security email. Password resets, invitations and email verification are not part of this preference system at all. They always send.
Everything else respects what you set.
Plan and role effects
- Cellar & stock alerts need low-stock signals, which require Professional or above. On the Free plan the category exists but has nothing to deliver. See Tier entitlements and plan limits.
- You only receive notifications about organizations and sites you actually have access to, see Managing users and access.
Push notifications specifically
Push needs the mobile app installed and notification permission granted on the device. If a category is set to push and nothing arrives:
- Check the device's own notification permission for Vinius.
- Confirm you are signed in on that device.
- Confirm the category is not set to Email or Off.
Turning push off for everything is a single change: set each category you do not want to Email or Off. There is no separate master switch to hunt for.
Club announcements
Club announcements always appear in the club feed. A club admin can additionally notify members by email or push when publishing one.
Two protections apply:
- Only members who allow Announcements & news notifications receive them.
- A club can send at most 3 notifications per week.
So if you want club news in the feed but not on your phone, set Announcements & news to Off. You will still see announcements when you open the club.
